ECHIM comprehensive lists

Introduction

There are two comprehensive lists, one developed by the ECHI-2 project (predecessor of ECHIM) called the ECHI-2 "long list", and one developed by the ECHIM project containing a list of EU indicator projects after ECHI-2. This list is called the ECHIM "comprehensive list".

The ECHI-2 long list has been built up towards the end of the ECHI-2 project as containing all health indicators developed and proposed by the EU public health program projects developing health indicators. With the growing number of projects and the increasing number of proposed indicators in sometimes rather restricted fields, this expanding comprehensive list has become increasingly large and unbalanced. The ECHIM project considered that its mere function as a structured inventory of all indicator proposals, irrespective of their degree of feasibility and importance, is not useful enough to justify the substantial amount of work needed for updating, within the available resources of ECHIM.

Instead, it was decided to provide a list of all the DG SANCO funded projects that were involved in health indicator development (after the ECHI-2 period).
